RE-CREATION OF A GENIUS LOCI

Costa Fortuna had the Italian Naval History as its very own “on board” narrative.
At some point, it passed to the Asian fleet of the same company and the whole Italian naval historic theme was taken down and replaced by Dragons and Macacu casino-style gambling halls to meet the local culture. When Costa Fortuna came back to Italy, it was necessary a huge and cost-saving restyling to restore the original Genius Loci of the ship.

MAIN HALL

Drawing inspiration from a sailing ship, the main hall was rethought through the installation of three luminous sails that enhance the space, interacting with the light, and turning the focal space of onboard animation with a spectacular scenography.

CONTE ROSSO

Thanks to the creation of a suggestive starry sky and the use of golden colour in the architectural details, the onboard room dedicated to one of the transatlantic twins of the Savoyard Merchant Navy is turned into the night lounge bar, creating the perfect atmosphere for onboard evenings.

CONTE VERDE

In counterpart of Conte Rosso, Conte Verde creates the ideal daytime environment, starting from the cost-effective decision to keep the pre-existing green ceiling backlit, which creates a relaxing and luminous atmosphere that recalls a garden. All the custom-made pieces of furniture and the lamps are an original tailor-made creation.

AMARILLO E PUMMI D’ORO

Amarillo ice cream shop and Pummi d’Oro pizzeria, created for Costa Fortuna, are an integral part of the ship genius loci restoration.

In Amarillo, the topic of the beach resort is evoked. Pastel colours and the location next to the swimming pool, make it the ideal place to taste ice cream in a classic Italian holiday setting.

In Pummi d’Oro, the rustic topic of the genuine pizzeria is modernised through the use of innovative patterns and coverings. The presence of large three-dimensional tomatoes gives the ambience a sense of fun, warmth, and the brightness of Southern Italy.
